Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

"Infrequently the navigation screen doesnt load. Has occurred about 4-5 times. Began after 4th year. Restarting car resolved issue."

""On February 4 the RAV4 displayed a Hybrid System Failure/see your dealer message, Fortunately I took a photo of the message with my cell phone as this provided proof of failure for warranty coverage at the dealership. We had just picked the car up from a covered garage (about 200 miles from our home) as the car seemed to be working okay we drove home. I've since learned that this was a risk as cars with this issue will sometimes simply quit on the road. The car started the next morning, still displaying the error message, and I was able to take it to the dealer. When I dropped the car off I was told it would be covered by a warranty extension, but that there were none of the required cables available in North America at the time. After 24 hours we were provided with a no-charge loaner car. Ultimately the repair took about two weeks. This problem has acquired the name "Cablegate" and first came to light in Canada. There are a number of Toyota models and production years which are impacted.""

"Hybrid system failed on I71. Rav4 towed to dealer. Repair part not available but on order (probably high demand ). On line calls it "cable-gate". Three weeks and counting with no time estimate."

"Catastrophic failure to electrical system due to rotting cables that run the hybrid electrical systems. These cables run the length of the car and had to be replaced. 2 day repair."
