Armed with a smooth and powerful V6 engine, as well as improved braking, this version of the Sienna was our top-rated minivan of its time. Because it was also the only one available with all-wheel drive, we tested both front- and AWD models. Our readers reported the AWD's run-flat tires wore quickly and were expensive to replace. A slightly stiffer ride and a loss of one mpg overall are other sacrifices for AWD.

What Owners Say

Alignment

"Because or a problem in the rear axle the car could not be aligned properly until the axle pieces were replaced"

Anonymous, WA (2008 Toyota Sienna Limited 3.5-L V6)

"Tire Kingdom I bought new tires and twice car was aligned due to car pulling. Tires rotated to each side and still was pulling to left and right as tires where changed to each side. Took it to my mechanic They said it was a bad tire (5000 miles) on it. Took it to tire kingdom again where I bought them from and they say it is not the tire. Had them check alignment/rotate tires and still same problem Cooper tires (265-70-16) and there vendors cant fix it either"

Anonymous, FL (2008 Toyota Sienna Limited 3.5-L V6)

"Rear passenger wheel slightly out of alignment. Dealer unable to fix it due to the design of the system"

Anonymous, NJ (2008 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)

"The alignment could not be corrected because of a rear axle part which appeared to be damaged. Dealership said because of an accident that was not reported on carfax but an independent shop said he has seen it before and sees it as a manufacturing week point. He fixed it for 1/3 of what dealership wanted."

Neil S., WA (2008 Toyota Sienna Limited 3.5-L V6)

"New tires and now it pulls. Tried realigning , rotating tires front to back and side to side even X still pulls to same side. Toyota Dealer and where I bought these rated 90k tires are unable to figure out problem. But tires show no sign of wear by pulling to one side"

Seat belts

"Driver seat belt won't retract or tighten because of twisting making driving unsafe due to belt caused by insufficient tension in the retraction system . Repair cost (over $300) makes quick replacement prohibitive. Difficult repair job includes taking whole door apart. Talented home mechanics can sometimes fix (or make worse) by carefully untwisting and pushing the belt back through the slot with a screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Other relatively unsafe stop gaps (knotting the seat belt) become necessary, especially if you are in a hurry to get somewhere."
