What Owners Say
"sliding door stopped working. Dealer replaced hinge. Not under warranty"
Anonymous, CT (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"The power sliding doors will intermittently stop when closing and reopen. When this happens the power doors must be disengaged and used manually."
Anonymous, WV (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"Doors are glitchy- sometimes don't operate as expected, but dealer states just lubrication problem."
Rick O., NJ (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"Sliding door worked well, but was subject to a recall. Done at Toyota dealer. Airbag recall also done at Toyota dealer. I only have ONE Toyota Sienna, not two."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Toyota Sienna Limited 3.5-L V6)"Sliding door recall, Airbag recall"
Anonymous, FL (2014 Toyota Sienna Limited 3.5-L V6)"Both sliding passenger doors had issues with the cable that pulled them open getting kinked. Both had to be replaced and this is the second time we've had to have it repaired."
John G., MN (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Both power sliding doors often close nearly all the way but then reverse as if they've encountered an obstacle. Sometimes it requires multiple attempts to close the doors, even with a passenger 'helping' to push the door closed."
Dave R., WI (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"The sliding door motors seem weak. Had to replace one and have to manually help the second door to close."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"We have had multiple issues with the automatic sliding doors on our van. One time the cable that pulls them open broke. Currently when you push the button to have them automatically close, one of the doors closes about 3/4 of the way, then hits something internally and then opens back up. The dealership said that there's some hinge that's ready to break that needs to be replaced."
John G., MN (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"The power sliding doors will intermittently fail to close, closing most of the way, then reopening. The dealership has never been able to replicate the problem, although I have offered to show them video of the behavior. The fuel filler door hinge failed at less than 50,000 miles because of excessive force from the plunger that prevents the left sliding door from opening when refueling. I replaced this at an independent body shop at a total cost of $250. Toyota has since issued an "enhanced service campaign" for both of these problems, but will not investigate the power door problem and did not reimburse me for the fuel filler door repair. Very disappointed in Toyota."
Anonymous, WV (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"After 3 years, the driver's side sliding door became very difficult to operate manually and was unable to be used electrically. Turned out to be a bent hinge."
Anonymous, (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"The gas tank is on the drivers side and if not closed completely inhibits the sliding door from opening. The gas tank door is ill fitting and I often need to slam it with my fist to get it flush enough with the body so that the sliding door will open."
Anonymous, MI (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Sliding doors sometimes doesn't close all the way, doesn't lock, sometimes it won't electronically close."

Anonymous, NC (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Driver's side sliding door would occasionally close to within 6 inches and reverse itself. Dealer replaced a mounting bracket under warranty"
Dave R., WI (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Shortly after purchasing sliding door wouldn't fully close and would reopen on its own. Took to dealer numerous times. Recall issued 2 years after purchase and to date no action has been implement to correct issue"

Robert A., NY (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"doors don"t always close, the sliding doors"
Anonymous, RI (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"Recall notice because sliding doors could open when driving. Toyota has not addressed this issue! Just sent a recall notice. Sliding doors make a banging noise sometimes when they open. Sounds like they are going to break. This happens occasionally...reported to service department they had no fix suggestions"
Gary W., TN (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Recall for electrical power"
Anonymous, TN (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"sliding door on the passenger side closed on it's own"
Anonymous, NB (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"On two occasions the automatic closure feature of the passenger-side sliding door (pull the handle and the door should close on its own) has failed. In each instance the door would close part way and then return to the open position. The door could be closed manually with much effort. Toyota fixed the problem in both instances."
Prager J., MA (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Had a recall on the drivers side sliding door. The dealer kept the car for 3 days, said they could not figure out how to put it back together. When I got it back, the door would not lock, it popped open when I hit a big bump, and it rattled like crazy. The dealer wanted to charge me over $800.00 to fix it. I complained and received 3 different case numbers from Toyota over this issue that the corporation never followed up on. Finally I looked up Toyota USA COO and got in touch with him. He assigned me to someone with SE Toyota. She sent me to another dealership who found out, not only did the dealer install the door panel incorrectly but broke the door latch trying to put it back together. After this experience together with some other instances with Toyota, I will never buy another one. Life is too short trying to deal with a company who does not support their products. We have owned Toyota's since 2003, it seems in the last few years they have gone down hill."
Gregg T., AL (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Recall for sliding door mechanism; still makes clicking sounds when operating."
Anonymous, NC (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"warranty work replace wiring harness sliding doors could open while vehicle is in motion"
Brian R., CA (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"The left rear passenger sliding door: One of the cables that opens the door broke - due to rusting out, located tucked along the rear window ledge. I couldn't open the door, even if the opening switch was turned off. First, I inquired on-line about other Sienna owners having the same cable-breakage problem, and found unsatisfactory outcomes. Then I called my Toyota dealer, but ended up taking the vehicle to a local body shop. They ordered the cable part they thought would be required. But upon working on the door, it was discovered that a second motor part was also needed. At a cost of over $1,800, we scrapped the repair and disconnected the opening mechanism. I now manually open and close the door. So far the right passenger sliding door still works."
Anonymous, WI (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"windshield stress crack"
Anonymous, NY (2014 Toyota Sienna SE 3.5-L V6)"Fuel filler door hinge fatigued and the assembly needed to be replaced. Before replacement the left sliding door was not usable because the fuel filler lid safety latch plunger would not depress to disengage the latch."
Anonymous, WV (2014 Toyota Sienna LE 3.5-L V6)"rear doors would not close , factory recall"
Anonymous, PA (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"Front door latch broke."
Anonymous, VA (2014 Toyota Sienna XLE 3.5-L V6)"The gas door hinge failed resulting in left sliding passenger door being inoperable. Hinge became partially detached due to premature wear and probably rust as well. Not under warranty or recalled so had to be replaced at a cost of $400. Hinge and door are one unit plus paint hence the expensive repair. Body shop tells me its a common problem with Siennas"
