    Toyota Sienna Road Test

    Introduction

The Toyota Sienna delivers a comfortable ride and a smooth, energetic powertrain returning respectable fuel economy. Expect 20 mpg overall from the front-wheel-drive version. If you need all-wheel-drive in this model year Sienna is the only choice. However, those four-driven wheels sacrifice one mpg and dictate run-flat tires.

Handling falls short of being agile or engaging, even with the sporty SE version. But it's ultimately secure.

On the practical side, the cabin is spacious and versatile, with available seating for eight. Top-line Limited versions offer second-row lounge seating, complete with footrests. However, the driving position is somewhat cramped, with sparse left foot room.

The 2015 freshening brought reduced road noise, but the ride is slightly less cushy. Soft-touch materials improved the perceived interior quality. Electronic connectivity is also updated, with Toyota's Entune touchscreen infotainment system offered as standard equipment.

Buyers who value all-wheel-drive will find the Sienna a very sensible choice.

    Summary

    Best Version to Get

We'd go with an XLE for its easy-to-clean leather interior and standard blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
