CR's Take
Although the C70 retains the same name as Volvo's old S70-based convertible, the new model is basically a convertible version of the S40. The C70 has a metal folding top that's power-operated and works well. It comes only with a turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine for now and either a manual or automatic transmission. Handling is sound but unexceptional. The ride is somewhat stiff. The C70 includes the standard assortment of Volvo safety features, including stability control and curtain air bags that deploy from the doors. Crash-test results are impressive.
