Volvo ES90

Although the ES90 is already available throughout much of Europe, Volvo tells CR that there are no plans currently to offer it in the U.S. The ES90 looks like a sedan, but its hatchback-style trunk opening and slightly elevated ground clearance put it somewhere between a car and an SUV. The optional dual-motor powertrain gives it all-wheel drive, and battery range is expected to be between 300 and 350 miles on a charge. It's the first Volvo vehicle to feature an 800-volt electrical architecture, which allows for super-fast charging: the automaker says the battery can go from a 10-percent state-of-charge to 80 percent in 20 minutes at public DC fast chargers. The interior is dominated by a vertically oriented, Google-powered infotainment system. Active safety and driver assistance systems take advantage of LIDAR and quicker processing power than prior Volvos.
