"The GPS is quite the worst such system I have ever experienced in any vehicle I have driven. It has multiple in-depth screens that are INCONVENIENT and impossible to adjust quickly. After a 6+ hour idle session (1/2 tank gas consumed) to update the maps, the system could not find the local dealership - but delivered me to a back street cul-de-sac some 5 1/2 miles from the correct destination. It continually chooses absurd routes to a frequently visited destination - choosing a 23 mile motorway route with about a mile of street roads over a 12 mile highway (same highway, opposite direction) with about two miles of street roads. No learning or direct route programming can overcome this mad choice. Reversion to the worst is the norm."

"I bought this car in Fall 2014 certified pre-owned from Volvo with about 39,000 miles on it. It now has over 124,000 miles, but fast oil burnoff has been a persistent problem for the last 30,000+ miles. Since the 91,000 mile mark, I've had this problem. The full oil contents usually burn off within 3000-4000 miles and I've had to be very vigilant about refilling the oil frequently in order to avoid a catastrophic engine failure. I've been told (repeatedly) by my mechanic who is expert at Volvos that it would not be cost-effective to repair, but rather to refill frequently until I'm ready to replace the car. According to the mechanic, the oil seems to leak out the exhaust and is not properly processed by the engine. What is worse is that there is no oil gauge (except an oil "light") that goes off when you bottom out, so I now check the oil stick under the hood after every other gas fill-up, and refill the oil as warranted - usually at least 1-2 quarts each time - to avoid significant oil burnoff."

I found it was more apt to work when the car was cold. The next morning the car started on the first try and I drove it to the dealer, where it wouldn't restart. The dealer gave me a loaner and replace the starter the next day. The car has started reliably since then. This is the only mechanical problem I have ever had with the car in 8 years."
