The 2019 Volvo XC40 is the smallest model in the Volvo lineup and joins the growing niche of luxury compact SUVs. It also comes with Volvo's City Safety package, with automatic emergency braking, along with sensors to detect other vehicles, bicyclists, and large animals in the vehicle's path. Optional safety items include run-off road protection and crash mitigation, rear cross-traffic alert with braking assist, 360-degree camera, and Volvo's Pilot Assist driver-assistance feature, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. Starting at $35,200, the XC40 T5 is equipped with a 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. A front-wheel-drive T4 will be added down the road.
