Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid

Latest Model

2022 Model Redesign Year
The XC60 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is an elegant five-passenger luxury SUV with a well-finished interior. It has an EPA-estimated 35 miles of electric-only range, after which it transitions to regular hybrid operation, where it got a commendable 28 mpg in our tests. It takes 5 hours to charge the 18.8-kilowatt-hour battery on a 240-volt charger, or 17 hours from a household 120-volt outlet. Thanks to a whopping 455 hp, the XC60 PHEV has extremely quick acceleration, and drivers will barely notice the transitions between electric and gas power. Handling is taut and responsive, but like the rest of the XC60 line, it suffers from a stiff ride. The cabin benefits from comfortable and supportive front seats, an uncluttered Scandinavian-inspired interior design, and a nicely finished cargo hold.
2026 models get an updated styling and a new infotainment system with a larger center screen. This newer infotainment system is still difficult to use. Also, adaptive cruise control is now standard for all trims.

2022-Present

2022 Model Redesign Year
Volvo's XC60 is a compact luxury SUV with elegant, high-quality interior. The plug-in hybrid version, badged T8 Recharge has an EPA-estimated 35 mile range on electric power only, after which it transitions to regular hybrid operation and gets 28 mpg. It takes five hours to charge the 18.8 kWh battery on 240 volt power. This semi electric Volvo is very quick and the transitions between electric and gas power are unobtrusive. Handling is taut and responsive. Like the rest of the XC60 line, the car suffers from convoluted and distracting controls and a stiff ride.
The small infotainment screen and lack of wireless CarPlay show the XC60's age. The cabin benefits from very comfortable and supportive seats, a clean, stylish Scandinavian-inspired interior design, and a nicely finished cargo hold. For 2025, the PHEV version is no longer called the Recharge.
