A Kichler ceiling fan that is part of a recall.

Kichler Lighting has recalled more than 42,000 ceiling fans sold at Lowe’s in the U.S. and Canada because the iron arms that hold the fan blades can detach, causing the blades to fall.

No injuries have been reported, but the company has received 62 reports of the blades breaking or detaching and one report of property damage, according to the recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The 52-inch fans, the most popular size, have five blades and an LED light. The model number, 35153, is printed on top of the motor housing.

Details of Kichler Lighting Ceiling Fan Recall

The recall: The Kichler Lighting ceiling fans have five blades, bronze accents, etched umber glass, and an integrated LED light. The fans are 52 inches wide and have a Mediterranean Walnut finish. The model number, 35153, is printed on the top of the fan’s motor housing, according to the recall notice.

How many: 38,900 sold in the U.S. and 3,160 in Canada.

The risk: The irons (arms) that hold the ceiling fan blades can detach when the fan is operating, causing the blades to fall and posing an injury hazard.

Incidents/injuries: Kichler has received 62 reports of the fan blade arm breaking or detaching and one report of property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Where and when sold: The fans were sold at lighting specialty stores and at Lowe’s and Lowe’s online from January 2016 through March 2020 for about $250.

The remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled ceiling fans and contact Kichler for instructions on how to receive a free replacement ceiling fan.
