Buick Enclave

Latest Model

2025 Model Redesign Year
Redesigned for 2025, the three-row midsized Enclave--which is mechanically similar to the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia--remains a functional and well-rounded family SUV, thanks to its comfortable ride and roomy cabin. The sole engine is a 328-hp, turbocharged four-cylinder teamed with a mostly smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic. The powertrain performs well, but it sounds raspy and unrefined compared to the previous V6, and fuel economy is just a mediocre 20 mpg overall for the AWD model we tested. Some drivers didn't find the flat-shaped front seats very comfortable. All Enclave trims come standard with roomy second-row captain's chairs, but the third-row seat will be tight for adults. The curved, 30-inch screen on the dashboard is large, yet it's overcrowded with small icons.
The optional Super Cruise active driving assistance system can center the SUV in its lane, vary the speed according to traffic, and change lanes on its own.

2018-2024

2018 Model Redesign Year
Redesigned for 2018, the Enclave provided improved fuel economy, more space, and a variety of safety and connectivity features. Power comes from a lively 3.6-liter V6 teamed with a smooth, responsive nine-speed automatic. We got 18 mpg overall in our tests. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds. The roomy cabin is very quiet and the ride is comfortable, befitting a Buick flagship. The third-row seat is relatively roomy for the class.
The infotainment system is easy to use, but the unintuitive gear selector is a nuisance in parking maneuvers. A manual sunshade for the sunroof and only a two-way lumbar adjustment for the seat are odd, given the price. The Enclave is freshened for 2022 with a number of exterior styling updates. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic warning become standard. Highway-speed automatic emergency braking is available. Other changes include a new rear power sunshade for the available power moonroof, revised seat trim and seat foam, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

2008-2017

2008 Model Redesign Year
The Buick Enclave is a large, car-based SUV with three rows of seats. It shares a platform with the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook. All use GM's contemporary 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that is a bit hesitant to downshift. We found the ride comfortable and quiet, and the powertrain smooth. Handling is secure and pretty agile for such a big vehicle. The third-row seat is roomy enough for adults.
Fit and finish are excellent. Fuel economy was slightly worse in the heavier Enclave than in our tested Traverse. A revised version with an improved infotainment system and the industry's first center airbag between the front seats debuted for 2013.
