    Lincoln Continental

    2017-2020

    2017 Model Redesign Year
Based on the accomplished Lincoln MKZ, the Continental is a high-tech flagship sedan. The base engine is a lackluster 3.7-liter V6. The 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, however, packs a lot of punch. The top-level gets a 400-hp, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional. The ride is very comfortable, and the cabin is super-quiet.
Handling is responsive, but the car is intended to be a relaxed cruiser. The cabin is nicely finished and very roomy, particularly in the back. The standard front seats look unusual and compromise support. We're no fans of the push-button gear selector and the electronic buttons that are used instead of an interior door handle.

    2000-2002

Though large, roomy, and feature-laden, the Continental lacks the driving finesse, fleetness, and inviting interior of other cars in its category. The Continental feels like the big heavy car that it is. The 275-hp, 4.6-liter V8 delivers strong performance but is thirsty. The Continental rides well but not as serenely as we expect from a luxury car. Cornering is a bit reluctant, and undulated curves make the body bob and weave. The steering feels artificially weighted.
The leather seats are soft, pillowy, and reasonably comfortable, but not very supportive. The rear seat is roomy for two, acceptable for three. The Continental was discontinued after 2002.
