Detailed Test Results
PICTURE QUALITY. This model, like all of the other models in our Ratings, had excellent high-definition picture quality when playing Blu-ray discs. It did very well with standard DVDs, displaying the best detail possible.
EASE OF USE. We found the model to be very easy to use, overall. Operating the player from its front panel was easy. The console has SKIP, PAUSE, STOP and navigation buttons. However, we noted that the console PLAY button doesn't work as ENTER button, so you may not be able to play some discs without the remote. The remote was fairly easy to use. Its fit to the hand is excellent and Weighty but balanced, has notch for index finger, but a bit long. It has direct access button(s) for Netflix, Vudu. The onscreen menu was somewhat intuitive and moderately easy to use. Like other 3D players we have tested, it had no problem playing 3D images when used with a 3D TV and 3D glasses.
SPEED. The startup time was 8 seconds, typical of most models. With its quick-start feature enabled, the startup time became 6 seconds. It had a faster Blu-ray load time than many other models of around 18 seconds. The DVD load time was typical of many models -- 17 seconds. The eject time was 4 seconds, faster than many other models.
INTERNET FEATURES. At the time of testing the firmware version was BDP10X-33-1018, which included these streaming services: Netflix, Vudu, Film Fresh, YouTube, Pandora.
CONTROLS AND CONNECTIVITY. The player is DLNA certified, so you can access digital photos, videos, and music stored on a PC, phone, tablet, or other device connected to your home network.
