    Detailed Test Results

PHOTO QUALITY. This 24-megapixel mirrorless camera captured images with very good quality. Pictures were sharp though not as much as the better models, which means you can see much but not all details and subtle patterns in the image. In low-light situations without a flash, pictures were very sharp. We judged this model excellent for outdoor performance, such as shooting landscapes in the daytime; excellent for indoor performance, such as photographing a well-lit basketball game in a gym. And excellent for low-light performance without a flash, such as capturing a birthday party. Photos taken in our low-light performance tests displayed very little image noise; subjects retained correct detail and color.

FLASH. The X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD with the 56mm kit lens captured flash shots that were very good. In our distance test, we found the camera's flash could illuminate subjects very well, both near and far. The flash also has excellent, very even coverage.

LENS. The lens has a fixed focal length; it has no zoom capability.

IMAGE STABILIZATION. Although this model doesn't have an image stabilizer, it did a fair job of minimizing the effects of camera shake in our tests. Shooting with digital telephoto in well-lit scenes, this model did a very good job of minimizing the effects of camera shake. In low-light settings, it performed poorly and very often produced blurry photos. Overall, the shake reduction results from our tests were fair.

SPEED. In terms of performance, the Fujifilm X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD powers up very quickly.

VIDEO. The Fujifilm X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD takes very good video. It also captures 4K-UHD video at 3840 x 2160 60p or 30i. As for sound, it captures very good audio in stereo.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS. Like most mirrorless models, this camera does include an electronic viewfinder, which means you have flexibility when composing your photo or video; this viewfinder has excellent quality. The display also swivels; this can be helpful when shooting self-portraits or hard-to-reach shots. This mirrorless is bigger and a bit heavier than most in its class. Although this model has many features and controls, this mirrorless is bulky and heavy, which may not make it the best model if you travel a lot.

    About

The X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD is a 24-megapixel camera with a kit lens that has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 84mm (fixed). It has a 3-inch LCD (1,040,000 pixels) that swivels. It also includes an electronic viewfinder, which is helpful when composing in bright light. Because it accepts interchangeable lenses but does not have a mirror and through-the-lens viewfinder, we consider this model a mirrorless SLR-like camera. The camera's kit lens has a maximum aperture of f/1.2. The camera's shutter speed range is 30 seconds to 1/32000 of a second. The X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD stores photos and video on SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards but has no on-board storage. It captures images as JPEG or RAW files at a top resolution of 6000 x 4000 and UHD-4K-resolution video as MOV files at a top resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a frame rate up to 60p or 30i. Like most digital cameras, this model comes with a proprietary rechargeable battery. This mirrorless has 91 autofocus points, 4 exposure modes, and an exposure compensation control that can be set at +/-5 EV. The X-T2 w/ XF 56mm F1.2 R APD measures 5.6 inches wide by 4.6 inches high by 2.7 inches deep, and weighs 35 ounces (2.2 pounds) (with battery, memory card, strap, and tested lens).
