    Detailed Test Results

PHOTO QUALITY. This 16-megapixel advanced point-and-shoot camera captured images with very good quality. Pictures were sharp though not as much as the better models, which means you can see much but not all details and subtle patterns in the image. In low-light situations without a flash, pictures were sharp. We judged this model excellent for outdoor performance, such as shooting landscapes in the daytime; very good for indoor performance, such as photographing a well-lit basketball game in a gym; and very good for low-light performance without a flash, such as capturing a birthday party. Photos taken in our low-light performance tests displayed little image noise; subjects retained most of their correct detail and color.FLASH. The X70 captured flash shots that were very good. In our distance test, we found the camera's flash could illuminate subjects very well, both near and far. The flash also has excellent, very even coverage.LENS. The lens has a fixed focal length; it has no zoom capability. The lens also has wide-angle (28mm) capability that's useful for landscapes and group portraits, although you may notice a bit of distortion when you're shooting faces up close, for instance.IMAGE STABILIZATION. Although this model doesn't have an image stabilizer, it did an excellent job of minimizing the effects of camera shake in our tests. Shooting with digital telephoto in well-lit scenes, this model did an excellent job of minimizing the effects of camera shake. In low-light settings, it performed very well and rarely produced blurry photos. Overall, the shake reduction results from our tests were excellent.SPEED. In terms of performance, the Fujifilm X70 powers up very quickly. It has a very short interval between shots, which can be important when shooting fast-moving or unpredictable subjects.VIDEO. The Fujifilm X70 takes fair video. It captures full HD video at 1920 x 1080. As for sound, it captures excellent audio in stereo.ADDITIONAL COMMENTS. Unlike most advanced point-and-shoot models, this camera does not include a viewfinder, which means you'll need to rely on the LCD to compose your photo or video. This advanced point-and-shoot is smaller and thinner than most in its class.

    About

The X70 is a 16-megapixel camera with no optical zoom and a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 28mm (fixed). It has a 2.9-inch LCD (1,040,000 pixels). Because it does not accept interchangeable lenses, we consider this model an advanced point-and-shoot camera. The camera has a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The camera's shutter speed range is 30 seconds to 1/32000 of a second. The X70 stores photos and video on SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards but has no on-board storage. It captures images as JPEG or RAW files at a top resolution of 4896 x 3264 and full HD-resolution video as MOV files at a top resolution of 1920 x 1080. Like most digital cameras, this model comes with a proprietary rechargeable battery. This advanced point-and-shoot has 77 autofocus points, 7 exposure modes, and an exposure compensation control that can be set at +/-3 EV. The X70 measures 4.8 inches wide by 2.5 inches high by 1.7 inches deep, and weighs 13 ounces (with battery, memory card, strap, and tested lens).
