Sound quality:

We found the ComfoBuds delivers sound quality that falls in the fair range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) is subdued and does not go deep, and depending on how these earphones naturally sit in the ears has so-so to decent impact. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is thin, grainy, congested (think sonic traffic jam), harsh, somewhat hazy, and telephone-like. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended but is prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does not do a good job of recovering room ambience. Cool character. The overall sound can be summarized as thin, harsh, and telephone-like.

Comfort and Fit:
We found that these earphones are a hybrid ear insert/ear bud design - the earpieces insert into, but don't seal the ear canals, and don't insert as far as typical ear insert models, and they are supported by ear bowls like a ear bud model. Depending on the earbowl size and shape some users might find that it is difficult to position them to optimize their sound quality (resulting in less bass and an even thinner sound). Users with small ear bowls will probably find that they fit and stay in place for casual use. Users with medium and large earbowls will probably find that they fit and stay in place for casual use. Incidental contact with the touch controls can cause unintentional playing and pausing and activating the digital assistant.
