Design and features:This model has touch controls with default settings for music player play/pause, call connect/disconnect, and digital voice assistant activation. Either earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. It supports unspecified digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth connected devices that have those features. The charging/carrying case has a built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries an additional 27 hrs. of playtime for a total of 38 hrs., and can be recharged via USB cable or with optional wireless charging accessories. The free 1MORE MUSIC app download for Apple and Android mobile devices adds additional features and software updates.
Sound quality:We found the Fit Open Earbuds S50 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy and a bit bright. With the 1More Music app Equalizer set to studio (the as received state of the earphones) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact, but is a touch boomy and doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy, a touch congested (think sonic traffic jam), telephone-like and sibilant, and a bit hazy. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat smeared and a bit prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears. These earphones do a decent job of recovering room ambience in the upper midrange, but ambience recovery is so-so elsewhere. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these earphones produce a sense of light pressure in the ear bowls.
Most users regardless of ear size will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and many will find that they are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.
Some users may find that ear hooks fee a bit bulky behind the ears.
