Design and features:This model has customizable touch controls with volume, music player play/pause, and call connect/disconnect default settings. Either earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications but will only monitor one channel for stereo sources (left earphone monitors left channel only, right earphone monitors right channel only). It supports unspecified digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth connected devices that have those features. It's charging/carrying case has a built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries for an additional 20 hrs. of playtime for a total of 30 hrs. The free 1More Music app download for Apple and Android devices adds additional features.
Sound quality:We found the Fit SE Open Earbuds S30 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy, a bit bright, and a touch bassy. With the 1More Music app tone controls set to flat (the as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact, but is a touch prominent and boomy, doesn't go deep, and may sound a touch warbly with some program material. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy, a touch congested (think sonic traffic jam), telephone-like and sibilant, and a bit hazy. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat smeared and a bit prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything covering your ears. These earphones do a decent job of recovering room ambience in the upper midrange, but ambience recovery is so-so elsewhere. The tone control settings of the 1More Music app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these earphones produce a sense of light pressure on the ears.
Most users will find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.
Some users may find that the earphones feel a bit heavy and/or that the ear hooks feel a bit bulky behind the ears.
