Sound quality:
We found the S51 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact, doesn't go deep and is a touch boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy, a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam) and a touch sibilant. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat smeared and a bit prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). It has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open and does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the upper midrange and so-so everywhere else. Decent dynamics depending on fit. Mixed character; neutral bass and midrange, coolish treble. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy, a bit bright, and a touch boomy. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.

Comfort and Fit:
There is a sense of light pressure on the ears. Small Users with small sized ears may find that ear hooks feel a bit bulky behind the ears, that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and are somewhat stable during fairly vigorous head movement. Medium Users with medium sized ears may find that ear hooks feel a bit bulky behind the ears , that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and are stable during vigorous head movement. Large Users with large sized ears may find that ear hooks feel bulky behind the ears, that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are somewhat stable during fairly vigorous head movement.
