Sound quality:We found the OpenFit 2 delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. With the Shokz app Equalizer set to standard mode (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep but is a bit prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy and a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam) and a touch sibilant. Depending on fit treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) can be extended but is somewhat sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) and smeared and a bit subdued to a bit prominent. While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness it has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open and does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the mid- to upper midrange, but is so-so elsewhere. Mixed character; warmish bass and midrange and coolish treble. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy, a bit bassy and hazy. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.
