Design and features:This Bluetooth wireless portable earbud model provides very good sound. Its open-air design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones.
Additional features include:
Has integrated volume control, microphone, and call connect/disconnect control. Either earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications but will only monitor one channel for stereo sources (left earphone monitors left channel only, right earphone monitors right channel only). Free Shokz app download for iOS and Android mobile devices adds additional features and software updates.
Sound quality:We found the OpenFit Air delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. With the Shokz app Equalizer set to Standard (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact and goes fairly deep, but is a touch boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy, a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam), a touch telephone-like and sibilant, and the upper midrange is a bit prominent. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended but is somewhat smeared and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a decent sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the midrange but so-so elsewhere; it has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open. Coolish character. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat grainy, sizzly and a bit telephone like. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these earphones produce a sense of light pressure on the ears.
