Design and features:This Bluetooth wireless portable bone conduction model provides acceptable sound. Its bone conduction design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones.
Additional features include:
Has integrated volume control, microphone, and call connect/disconnect control. It has 4 EQ settings, standard, vocal, bass boost and treble boost. Free Shokz app download for iOS and Android mobile devices adds additional features and software updates.
Sound quality:We found the OpenRun Pro 2 Mini delivers sound quality that falls in the acceptable range - it reproduces music and voice reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. This model has four tone settings; the Standard tone setting was used. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact but is a bit boomy and deep bass is lacking. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat congested (think sonic traffic jam) and a bit muffled, grainy, thin and somewhat nasal and a touch sibilant. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) lacked extension but this depended on fit where proximity to the ear canal can effect perception of treble and was a bit subdued, smeared and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience from recordings. The sound also has a decent sense of liveliness and it has an open sound, but that's because it's not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open. Warmish character. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat congested and a bit muffled and grainy. The other tone setting had a noticeable effect on the sound.
Tech note: the "Classic" mode has the "electric shock-like" vibration effect.
Comfort and Fit:Small
Users with small sized heads will probably find that the neckband is generally not noticeable unless it interferes with clothing, hair, headwear, especially if the users lift their heads such as when looking up.
Small to Medium
Users with small to medium sized heads will probably find that they produce a slight sense of pressure in front of the ears .
Large
Users with larger heads may find that the neckband makes contact with the back if their heads or necks, especially when they lift their heads such as when looking up .
Users with larger heads may find they produce a significant sense of pressure in front of the ears and may actually pull back on the front of the ears uncomfortably, especially if the users lift their heads such as when looking up .
Misc.
Fits securely even with vigorous head movement .
Unlike similar bone conduction models there was no "shock-like" vibration in the default "Standard mode" felt except in "Classic" EQ preset mode where a vibration can be felt.
