Design and features:The Beoplay E6 has an integrated microphone and volume, music player, and call connect/disconnect controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. The earphones can be magnetically attached to each other when not in use to turn them off and for ease of carrying around the neck. This model can be charged while being used, and supports voice control of Bluetooth devices that have that feature. The free Beoplay app download for Apple and Android mobile devices provides tonal presets and custom tonal adjustments, can act as a music player, and can be used to update the Beoplay E6's firmware. This model is claimed by the manufacturer to be water resistant and comes with five pairs of ear pieces of various types and sizes, four pairs of ear bowl supports in various sizes, a proprietary USB charging cable, and a carrying bag.
Sound quality: We found the Beoplay E6 delivers sound quality that falls in the Very Good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can be summarized as clinical. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep but is a bit boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is a touch lean, grainy, hazy, and etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) and prominent. The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is open (sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything covering your ears), but it only does a so-so job of recovering the room ambience of a recording (the sense of the acoustic space in which the audio program that's being listened to was recorded).
Comfort: As typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening that might be uncomfortable for some. They fit and stay in place with no problem and are very stable even with vigorous head movement. The sound of the earphone connecting cable rubbing on clothing may be transmitted by the earphones.
