    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This model has controls for volume, music player transport, call connect/disconnect, and digital assistant activation. It supports Apple Siri and Google Assistant digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities.

    Sound quality:
We found the Outlier Free+ delivers sound quality that falls in the mediocre range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat telephone-like. When positioned to provide its best sound quality what little bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) it had was very subdued and lacked impact and depth. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat grainy and congested (think sonic traffic jam), a bit nasal, and the lower midrange is subdued. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, a bit prominent and somewhat smeared. The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything covering your ears (but that's because it actually is not covering your ears, not because the audio sounds open). This model only does a so-so job of recovering room ambience from recordings.

    Comfort and Fit:

We found that these earphones produce a slight sense of pressure in front of the ears.

When played at its loudest volume a vibration can be felt that might feel like an electric shock.

This model stays in place with no problems for casual use, and most users will find that they are very stable even during vigorous head movement.

    Small/Medium

Users with small to medium sized heads will probably find that the neckband is generally not noticeable unless it interferes with clothing, hair, or headwear.

    Large

Users with larger heads may find that the neckband feels a bit restrictive and that it makes contact with the back if their heads or necks, especially when they lift their heads such as when looking up.
