    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This home/studio-style on-ear model provides excellent sound. Its open-air design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones. The headphones have medium-high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower-powered portable audio devices. Additional features include - Earcups swivel, replaceable earpads. This model comes with Mini-plug-to-1/4-inch-plug adapter.

    Sound quality:
We found the RS2x delivers sound quality that falls in the excellent range - while no headphone is perfect, the shortcomings of this model are minor. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact, is well defined and goes fairly deep, but is a bit prominent. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is detailed, but a touch thin, and a bit grainy and etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but a bit prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a good job of recovering room ambience. Mixed character - warmish bass with neutral midrange and treble. The overall sound can best be summarized as open and detailed, but a bit grainy and bassy.

    Comfort and Fit:

We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure around the ears.

As typical of on-ear models the ear pads might feel hot after prolonged use.

    Large

Users with larger heads might find that the headband does not have enough adjustment range resulting in the headband pressing uncomfortably on the top of the head and/or the earcups not sitting properly on the ears.

    Stability

Some users may find that when they lean far forward the headphones feel a bit unstable and shift forward.

    Other noise

When the audio cord is used the sound of it rubbing on clothing may be faintly heard through the earphones. Some users might find that the earpad foam feels a bit rough.
