    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:

This model has touch controls for volume, music player transport, call connect/disconnect, ambient sound monitoring and noise cancellation on/off, and digital voice assistant activation. Either earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. It has an automatic pause feature - audio pauses when one earphone is taken out of ear and resumes when both are put back. It supports Apple Siri and Google Assistant digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities and that, if needed, have the appropriate apps installed. The charging/carrying case has a built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries for an additional 28 hrs. of listening time for a total of 36 hrs. with noise canceling off, or an additional 21 hrs. of listening time for a total of 27 hrs. with noise canceling on. The free Jabra Sound Plus app download for Android and iOS mobile devices adds additional features and software updates.

    Sound quality:

We found the Elite 10 provides excellent active noise reduction and delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as somewhat grainy and bright. With the Jabra Sound+ app equalizer set to flat, Spatial sound for media set to "off", and Music Presets set to Neutral with noise canceling on (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is a touch prominent and a bit boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is a somewhat grainy, a bit sibilant, and the upper midrange is a bit prominent. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat prominent and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) and a bit smeared and dry. The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears. It also does a decent job of recovering the room ambience of recordings. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones. These earphones provide excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. A faint rushing sound can be heard in quiet environments when there is no audio program to drown it out.

    Comfort and Fit:
This is a hybrid ear insert/ear bud design - the earpieces seal the ear canals but they don't insert into the ear canals as far as typical ear insert models, and they are supported by ear bowls like a ear bud model rather than the ear canals. Users with small ear bowls might find that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their ear bowl and that they stick out too far and feel like they may lever out of place, but that they will stay in place during casual use and are very stable even with vigorous head movement. Users with medium and large ear bowls will probably also find that they stay in place during casual use with no problem, and that they are stable to very stable even with vigorous head movement. Some users might find pressing the various earphone controls drives the earphones farther into the ear canal and may cause ear discomfort.
