Design and features:Although this Bluetooth wireless portable ear-insert model lacks active noise reduction, the ear plug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The Sport Pulse Wireless has a built-in microphone and integrated volume, music player and call connect/disconnect controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. Additional features include a built-in heart rate monitor function that our tests showed to be very accurate (requires a compatible app to view heart rate on a connected mobile device), optional NFC Bluetooth pairing, and the manufacturer claims weather and shock resistance. This model comes with four pairs of ear pieces and three pairs of earbowl supports in various sizes, a USB charging cable, four connecting cable shorting clips, a carrying case, and free Jabra Sport Life and Jabra Sound app downloads for Apple and Android mobile devices.
Sound quality: We found the Sport Pulse Wireless delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as bassy and mellow. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is mellow and fairly clear. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but sizzly--sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying. While the sound has a good sense of liveliness it is closed-in-- sound-wise it is obvious that you have something plugging up your ears. The Dolby and EQ settings in the Jabra sound app have a noticeable effect on the sound. When compared to the Jabra Sport Coach Wireless that is also covered in the Ratings the bass of the Sport Pulse Wireless is more prominent but otherwise the sound of the two models is similar.
Comfort: We found that these earphones fit and stay in place with no problems and that the ear bowl support ear pieces are very stable even with vigorous head movement, but they produce a sense of pressure in the ear opening that might be uncomfortable for some.
