Design and features:Although this portable on-ear model lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The headphones have medium-high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels even when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. The S300a has a 48-inch-long detachable audio cable with an inline volume control that works with some Android and Windows smart phone models, plus an integrated microphone and player function controls that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, some Android phones, Windows phones, iPhones, and some other cell phones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some Android phones, Windows phones, iPhones and some other cellphones. These headphones may not operate properly with some non-iPod players or other non-smartphone audio equipment. This model has earcups that swivel and fold flat for travel and storage, and it comes with a carrying case.
Sound quality: The JBL S300a delivers good overall sound, with a warm character. Bass has lots of impact, but is very pronounced, thuddy, and boomy. Midrange is constricted, gritty, and overwhelmed by the bass. Treble is recessed, and upper treble is rolled off. Overall sound is closed in, with so-so dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure on the ears, and the earpads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
