Design and features:The Under Armour has an integrated microphone and volume, music player function, and call connect/disconnect controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. The manufacturer claims that it is water resistant, and it can be used with the free Under Armour MapMyFitness fitness tracking/training/social networking app for Apple and Android mobile devices. This model comes with two pairs of ear pieces in various sizes (according to the instructions two additional pair of different sizes will be provided for free if requested), a USB charging cable, and free 12-month MapMyFitness premium membership.
Sound quality: We found the Under Armour delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as a bit soft with boomy bass. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but a bit soft and hazy and somewhat overwhelmed by the bass. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended but somewhat subdued. The sound is closed-in (sound-wise it is somewhat obvious that you have something plugging your ears) and lacks a bit of liveliness.
Comfort: We found that there is a big size difference between the two earpieces provided with these earphones, and with these earpieces some users will have a problem getting both a good acoustical seal and a stable fit. If a good acoustic seal is not achieved the bass becomes very subdued and the sound quality suffers. If the earbowl portion of the earpieces don't fit correctly the earphones won't feel stable during vigorous head movements. The manufacturer claims that they will provide additional sizes of earpieces upon request at not charge. When we contacted them they said that the intermediate size we requested was out of stock, and rather than offering to automatically send them to us when they came in, they said we'd have to keep on checking back with them to see when they came in and to order them then.
