Design and features:The LIVE 300TWS has integrated microphones and touch sensitive volume, music player, call connect/disconnect, ambient sound monitoring, and digital voice assistant activation controls for paired Bluetooth devices. Additional features include an automatic pause feature that pauses audio when either earphone is taken out of an ear, support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Siri, Samsung Bixby digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities, and manufacturer claimed water resistance. This model comes with three pairs of ear pieces in various types and sizes, four pairs of earbowl supports in various sizes, a USB charging cable, and a charging cradle/recharger battery/carrying case with a built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries approximately 2-1/3 times between its own charges. The free My JBL Headphone app download for Apple or Android mobile devices can be used to change the sound of the earphones, to show the battery level, set up the digital voice assistants, disable the automatic shut-off function, disable the automatic pause feature, help locate the earphones if they are misplaced, and update the earphone's firmware.
Sound quality: We found the LIVE 300TWS delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. With the My JBL Headphone app set to EQ off (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, somewhat grainy, a bit etched, and a touch congested. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat promient, smeared, and sizzly. The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is open--sound-wise it seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears. It does a decent job of recovering room ambience (the sense of the acoustic space in which the audio program that's being listened to was recorded). Mixed character - warmish bass with coolish midrange and treble. The overall sound can best be summarized as bassy, grainy, and etched. The tone settings of the app do have a noticable effect on the sound of these earphones.
Comfort: As typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening that might be uncomfortable for some. Users with small earbowls might find that the earphone body feels bulky in their earbowl and that they stick out too far and feel like they may lever out of place and are mostly held in place by the section of the earphone that is inserted in the ear canal, but that they will generally stay in place during casual use. Users with medium sized ear bowls might find that that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their earbowl, but that it stays in place with no problems for casual use. Users with larger sized ear bowls will probably find that this model fits and stays in place with no problems and are very stable even during vigorous head movement. Incidental contact with the touch controls can cause unintentional volume level changes, playing, pausing, track skipping, or ambient sound monitoring and that the touch control volume swipe response is erratic.
