Design and features:This model is a closed design, it doesn't form a tight seal with the ears so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones. The Flats Wireless - HAS23WB has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls and integrated call connect/disconnect controls. Additional features include None Has power on/off, and Bluetooth connect/disconnect alert tones. Supports unspecified digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those features. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. This model comes with USB charging cable. Free Plantronics Backbeat app available for Apple and Android mobile devices.
Sound quality: We found the Flats Wireless - HAS23WB delivers sound quality that falls in the fair range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has decent impact but doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is a bit hazy, and congested, somewhat grainy and sibilant, and has a noticeable plastic resonance (something like what you would hear if you talked into a semi-rigid plastic cup). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat smeared. While the sound has a good sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears) and does a so-so job of recovering room ambience (the sense of the acoustic space in which the audio program that's being listened to was recorded). Neutral character. The overall sound can best be summarized as plasticy and a bit rough.
Comfort: We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure on the ears. As typical of on-ear models the pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use. Users with smaller heads may find that the headphones feel unstable and shift forward a bit and may even fall off when they lean far forward. Users with larger heads might find that the headband does not have enough adjustment range to allow the earcups rest properly on the ears and/or that the headband presses uncomfortably on the top of the head. When wearing this model while walking the vibrations from each foot step can be heard faintly through the headphones.
