Design and features:The earphones have very high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower powered portable audio devices. The HA-FR100X has an integrated microphone and player function controls that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, and some iPhones and some other cellphones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some iPhones and some other cellphones. These earphones may not operate properly with some non-Apple/non-Android mobile devices or other audio equipment. This model comes with three pairs of ear pieces in various sizes and a carrying pouch.
Sound quality: We found the HA-FR100X delivers sound quality that falls in the fair range, meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The overall sound can best be summarized as full, bassy, and muffled. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes somewhat deep, but is prominent an boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but somewhat muffled. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is subdued, and the upper treble is muted. The sound is closed in (sound-wise it is obvious that you have something plugging up your ears) and lifeless.
Comfort: We found that these earphones fit and stay in place with no problems, but they produce a sense of pressure in the ear opening that might be uncomfortable for some.
