Design and features:Although it lacks active noise reduction, this model's earplug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The earphones also have high sensitivity, so they can provide satisfying volume levels even when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. This model comes with four pairs of earpieces of various sizes and types and a shirt clip.
Sound quality: JVC's HA-FX40 delivers good overall sound, with a neutral to cool character. The slightly pronounced bass has good impact, but is slightly boomy and lacks some definition. Midrange is a bit grainy and congested, and tends toward tinny. Treble is extended, but sounds slightly peaky and bright. The overall sound is slightly closed-in, with good dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these earphones fit and stay in place with no problems, but a sense of pressure in the ear opening might be uncomfortable for some.
