    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:
This Bluetooth wireless home/studio-style on-ear model provides middling sound. Although it lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The HA-S36W has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls. Additional features include a Ear cups fold and swivel to flat for ease of carrying and storage. Has controls for volume, music player play/pause and next/prev track, call connect/disconnect, digital voice assistant activation, microphone mute, and sound modes. Supports multi-point connection for two Bluetooth devices. 3 EQ modes switchable via button on the headphone. Supports Apple Siri and other compatible digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. The HA-S36W comes with USB-A to USB-C connector charging cable, Quick Start, Warranty Card.

    Sound quality:
We found the HA-S36W delivers sound quality that falls in the middling range - it reproduces music and voice reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. With the sound mode set to "Normal" (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep but is somewhat prominent and a bit boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even but is hazy and a bit grainy and somewhat congested (think sonic traffic jam). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is a bit subdued and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) and somewhat smeared. While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears) and does a decent job of recovering room ambience. Warmish character. The overall sound can be summarized as hazy, somewhat bassy and congested.

    Comfort and Fit:

We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate to high pressure on the ears depending on the user's head width.

As typical of on-ear models the ear pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.

    Large

Users with larger heads might find that the headband does not have enough adjustment range resulting in the headband pressing uncomfortably on the top of the head and/or the ear cups not sitting properly on the ears ; the less-than-ideal fit on the ears might interfere with the ear pad seal and may reduce the bass response of the headphone.

When wearing this model while walking the muffled vibrations from each foot step can be heard slightly through the headphones.
