Design and features:Although this portable ear-insert model lacks active noise reduction, the earplug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The earphones have high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels even when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. The Reference R6i has an inline volume control that works with iPads and some iPod and iPhone models, plus player function controls that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, and some iPhones and some other cellphones. The integrated microphone and call connect/disconnect button can be used with some iPhones, some Android phones, and some other cellphones. These earphones may not operate properly with some non-Apple/non-Android mobile devices or other audio equipment. This model comes with four pairs of earpieces of various types and sizes, a removable shirt clip, and a carrying case.
Sound quality: The Reference R6i delivers very good overall sound, with a warm character. Bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is pronounced and boomy. Midrange is fairly even but is a bit hazy and congested. Treble has good detail, but is recessed and the upper treble is somewhat rolled off. The overall sound is closed in, but has decent dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these earphones fit and stay in place with no problems, but they produce a sense of pressure in the ear opening might be uncomfortable for some.
