Design and features:Although this Bluetooth wireless portable on-ear model lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. This sport-oriented on-ear model, which is intended to be used with Bluetooth audio devices, also comes with a detachable audio cable so it can be used with some standard audio devices, though its mini-plug may not be compatible some non-iPod players or other audio equipment. When connected to a device via the cable, the iSport Freedom has high sensitivity, so it can provide satisfying volume levels when used even with lower-powered portable audio devices. The iSport Freedom has an integrated microphone plus integrated volume, music player function, and call connect/disconnect for use with Bluetooth audio players and phones. Additional features include a claimed resistance to moisture and sweat, voice-activated dialing when used with Bluetooth phones that support that feature, and earcups fold for travel and storage. This model comes with a detachable 53-inch long audio cable with built-in mic and answer/player control button for iPhone/iPod/iPad, and smartphone use, a USB charging cable, and a carrying bag.
Sound quality: The iSport Freedom delivers good overall sound. In the Bluetooth mode bass has lots of impact, but is prominent, tubby, and doesn't go deep. Midrange is a bit thin, dry, gritty, and may sound constricted. Low- to mid-treble is a bit prominent, while upper treble is slightly rolled off. The overall sound is somewhat open, with decent dynamics. Its overall character was mixed--warm bass, with neutral to cool midrange and treble. When connected to a device using the included cable the sound bit improved a bit, but still falls within the "good" category. While bass and treble sound the same, the midrange becomes fairly even, but a bit soft and dark, and the dynamics improve to good. Also, the character of the midrange changes from cool to warm. Like many other headphones, getting the best sound from this model is very dependent on the earpads forming a good seal on the ears; if not, bass becomes more recessed and the midrange gets tinny.
Comfort: We found that these headphones produce a sense of moderate pressure on the ears, and the earpads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use. The earcups have a limited ability to swivel side-to-side, which may affect how well the earpads form a seal for some users, and users with narrow heads may also have problems getting a good seal. In addition, these headphones provides noticeable isolation of external noises only when a decent seal can be formed with the ears.
