Sound quality:We found the Moto Buds-S ANC delivers sound quality that falls in the good range - it reproduces music and voice reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound and excellent active noise reduction. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact, but is a bit boomy and doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is grainy, somewhat hazy, a bit thin, sibilant, and congested. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) extended, but is somewhat prominent, smeared, and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a so-so job of recovering room ambience. Mixed character - warmish bass with coolish midrange and treble. The overall sound can best be summarized as rough and a bit bassy and thin. Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. A very, very faint rushing sound can be heard when there is no audio program to drown it out.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these earphones as typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some.
Users will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.
Response to intentional touch control operation tended to be erratic - for example switching between noise cancellation and ambient sound monitoring often also caused the earphones to play or pause.
Incidental contact with the touch controls can cause unintentional playing, pausing, track skipping, or change in noise cancelling mode.
Some users might find pressing the various earphone controls drives the earphones farther into the ear canal and may cause ear discomfort.
Hitting the stem that hangs out of the ear can knock an earphone lose and cause it to fall out of the ear.
