Design and features:Although this portable ear-insert model lacks active noise reduction, the ear plug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The earphones have high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. The VISO HP20 has an inline volume control that works with iPads and some iPod and iPhone models, plus an integrated microphone and music player function controls that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, and some iPhones and some other cellphones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some iPhones and some other cellphones. These earphones may not operate properly with some non-iPod players or other audio equipment. Additional features include "Room Feel" technology which the manufacturer claims makes headphone listening sound more like listening to a live performance. This model comes with five pairs of earpieces of various sizes, a mini-plug-to-1/4-inch-plug adapter, a mini-plug-to-airplane-jack adapter, a shirt clip, and a carrying case.
Sound quality: We found the VISO HP20 delivers very good overall sound with a neutral character. Bass has good impact and definition and goes fairly deep, but the mid-bass is prominent and the upper bass is recessed which results in bass that sounds punchy but disconnected from the rest of the tonal range. Midrange is slightly lean. Treble is a bit prominent and sizzly, and upper treble is somewhat rolled off. Somewhat open sounding and very dynamic.
Comfort: We found that these earphones produce a sense of pressure in the opening that might be uncomfortable for some. These earphones have a long body, and the balance of the model gave our testers the general sense that these earphones were on the verge of falling out. But we found that once they were fitted they actually seem to stay in place with no problems.
