Design and features:The NuForce BE FREE6 has integrated microphones, and music player and call connect/disconnect controls for paired Bluetooth devices. Either earphone can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications, and when the earphones are used for one ear monitoring each earphone can be connected to a different Bluetooth device. Additional features include support for Apple Siri and Google Assistant digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those features. This model is claimed to be water resistant and comes with four pairs of ear pieces in various types and sizes, a USB charging cable, and a charging cradle/recharger battery/carrying case that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries approximately up to 3 times (6 times for single earphone use) between its own charges.
Sound quality: We found the NuForce BE FREE6 delivers sound quality that falls in the Very Good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized bassy and a bit grainy. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is even, but is slightly hazy and grainy, a touch etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be) and, depending on the program material, can be somewhat overwhelmed by the bass. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but slightly prominent and smeared (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer sound blurred). This model does a decent job of recovering the room ambience of a recording (the sense of the acoustic space in which the audio program that's being listened to was recorded). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears.
Comfort: As typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some. Users with small ear bowls might find that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their ear bowl and that although they will generally stay in place during casual use, they stick out too far and feel like they be easily knocked loose. Users with medium and large sized ear bowls will probably find that this model stays in place with no problems for casual use. Some uses might find pushing the control buttons to actuate the functions drives the earphones farther into the ear canal and may cause ear discomfort.
