Design and features:Although this Bluetooth wireless home/studio-style on-ear model lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. It can be used wirelessly with audio devices with Bluetooth capability or cord connected to standard audio equipment. The headphones have high sensitivity when cord connected so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. The Hinge Wireless has a built-in microphone and integrated volume, music player and call connect/disconnect controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. Additional features include optional NFC Bluetooth pairing and earcups fold for ease of storage. This model comes with a detachable 48-inch long audio cable with built-in mic and answer/player control button for iPhone/iPod/iPad and smartphone use (the cable's 4-contact mini-plug works with most mobile devices but may not be compatible with some other audio equipment), a USB charging cable, and a carrying bag.
Sound quality: We found the Hinge Wireless delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. In wireless mode the overall sound can best be summarized as full and a bit hazy. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is thumpy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is even, but is a bit soft, hazy, and congested (think sonic traffic jam). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but a bit soft. While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness it is closed-in -- sound-wise it is obvious that you have something plugging up your ears. When cable connected the overall sound is very similar but the midrange and treble become slightly muffled; while still in the very good range the sound quality drops a bit .
Comfort: We found that these headphones produce a sense of medium pressure on the ears. The ear pads might feel hot and/and or sticky after prolonged use.
