Design and features:This home/studio-style over-ear model sports an open-air design that doesn't muffle outside sounds, so you'll be able to hear a door bell, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing the headphones. The headphones, which come with a full-size headphone plug, have medium sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and all but the lowest powered portable audio devices. This model comes with a 1/4-inch-to-mini-plug adapter.
Sound quality: While other Sennheiser headphones have done well in our Ratings, this model has only fair overall sound, with a warm character. The bass is very pronounced with lots of impact, but it lacks definition. In fact, though the midrange and treble are smooth, they are often overwhelmed by the bass. Overall, the sound is slightly closed in, with so-so dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these headphones were generally comfortable, with some sense of pressure around the ears. The velour ear pads might feel hot after prolonged use.
