Design and features:Although this Bluetooth wireless portable ear-insert model lacks active noise reduction, the ear plug-like design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The MDR-AS600BT has a built-in microphone and a single integrated control for on/off, Bluetooth pairing, and Bluetooth volume, music player function, and call connect/disconnect which can be confusing to use. Additional features include optional NFC Bluetooth pairing, and the manufacturer claims that the MDR-AS600BT is water resistant. This model comes with four pairs of ear pieces and three pairs of ear bowl supports of various sizes, and a USB charging cable.
Sound quality: We found the MDR-AS600BT delivers sound quality that falls in the good range - it reproduces music and voice reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The overall sound can best be summarized as bass-heavy and full with a bright top end. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is pronounced and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat uneven; lower midrange is somewhat dark (there is an opaqueness that covers up fine detail), and while the upper midrange is somewhat edgy, violins and brass instruments sometimes sound a bit soft. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is prominent, thin, and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying) . While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness it is somewhat closed-in--sound-wise it is somewhat obvious that you have something plugging up your ears.
Comfort: We found that these earphones fit and stay in place with no problems and that the ear bowl support ear pieces are very stable even with vigorous head movement, but they produce a sense of pressure in the ear opening that might be uncomfortable for some.
