Design and features:Although this home/studio-style over-ear model lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The earphones have medium-high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower-powered portable audio devices. The Combat+ has a detachable 48-inch long audio cable with an inline volume control that works with iPads and some iPod and iPhone models, plus an integrated microphone and a music player function control that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, and some iPhones and some other cellphones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some iPhones and some other cellphones. These earphones may not operate properly with some non-iPod players or other audio equipment. The earcups fold for ease of storage and transport, and the manufacturer claims the headphones are sweat resistant. This model comes with one pair of closed foam ear pads, one pair of mesh earpads, and a carrying case.
Sound quality: We found the Combat+ delivers fair overall sound with a warm character. Bass has good impact, but is pronounced, boomy, and doesn't go deep. Midrange is muffled, nasal, and has a plastic resonance. Treble is uneven - mostly recessed and rolled off, but has a sizzly mid-treble peak. Closed-in sounding with compressed dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these earphones produce a sense of uneven pressure (medium at top, heavy at bottom) around the ears that some might find uncomfortable. The ear pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
