Sound quality:

We found the Life P2i delivers sound quality that falls in the good range - it reproduces music and voice reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. With the EQ mode set to Bass, the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is prominent and boomy, and depending on the program material can crowd the midrange a bit. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but somewhat grainy, hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam) , and can sound strained at higher volume levels. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but somewhat prominent and smeared, and a bit and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). While the sound has a good sense of liveliness, it is closed (sound-wise it's obvious you have something plugging your ears) and does a decent job of recovering room ambience. Warm character. The overall sound can be summarized as bassy, and somewhat grainy, hazy, and congested.

Comfort and Fit:
We found that these earphones as typical of in-ear models they produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some. Users might find that the earphone body feels like they stick out too far and may lever out of place, but that they will stay in place during casual use and they are stable during fairly vigorous head movement. Some users might find pressing the various earphone controls drives the earphones farther into the ear canal and may cause ear discomfort. Hitting the stem that hangs out of the ear can knock an earphone lose and cause it to fall out of the ear.
