Design and features:While this portable on-ear model features a closed design, it doesn't form a tight seal with the ears so you'll be able to hear a door bell or car horn when you're wearing the headphones. This model has high sensitivity, so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower-powered portable audio devices. The Plattan has an inline microphone and remote control with player controls that work with iPads and some iPods and iPhones, and Nokia, HTC, and Blackberry phone models. The call connect/disconnect feature is compatible with the iPhone, and some Nokia, HTC, and Blackberry models. A unique feature is a jack on one of the earpieces that lets a second pair headphones be connected. This model also has a standard stereo mini-plug adapter extension and a Nokia cellphone-compatible mini-plug adapter extension.
Sound quality: We found the Plattan delivers good overall sound with a slightly warm character. The slightly prominent bass has good impact but so-so definition. The lower midrange seems to be absent; the remainder of the midrange is soft, hazy, and somewhat constricted. Treble is hazy and rolled off. Overall sound is closed in, with compressed dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these headphones are comfortable, with some sense of pressure on the ears. The vinyl ear pads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
