Sound quality: Edifier's MP230 had mediocre overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. The bass has little impact and doesn't go deep and is a bit subdued and boomy. Midrange is somewhat hazy, congested, grainy, plasticky and telephone like and a touch etched and sibilant. Treble is fairly extended but is somewhat prominent, sizzly and a bit smeared. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested.
Volume:
Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room but is better suited for near field listening. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable and have a two dimensional quality.
