Sound quality: Edifier's MP280 had fair overall sound quality. Bass has little impact is subdued and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is somewhat hazy, congested and a bit nasal. Treble is a somewhat subdued, smeared and upper treble is muted. Does a so so job of recovering room ambience, sounds somewhat congested and is lacking in detail. Bluetooth and wired sound quality are similar. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Edifier MP280 ease of use to be good overall. Volume controls are on side of unit but nothing to indicate that it is a volume control except + and - symbols, no index markings but has a indicator led to indicate when you reach the max volume setting. Also, the volume control is an unlabeled multifunction control for skipping tracks when press and hold. Source selection involves a low contrast labeled source selector button, with persistent but ambiguous led indicators for selection. Switching between Bluetooth, MicroSD and Line-in is intuitive with little or no delay. However, for line-in use the unit can no longer stand on its end. Bluetooth pairing is excellent - the unit is always in pairing mode when not already paired, shows a pairing mode indicator. Indicates when pairing mode has occurred and never times out.
