Sound quality: Ikea's Eneby (gen 2) had Very Good overall sound quality - although it has some noticeable sonic quirks, this model reproduces music and dialog very well. Bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is a bit prominent and boomy. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat hazy and a bit grainy. Treble is fairly extended but is a bit subdued. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience; sounds somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room. When two units are combined to form a stereo pair the sound field can be made wider depending on placement.
Ease of use: We found the Ikea Eneby (gen 2) ease of use to be Good overall. Bluetooth: The unit is always in pairing mode when not already paired, shows a pairing mode indicator. Indicates when pairing mode has occurred and never times out. The volume control is an unlabeled multi-function knob located on the front of the speaker, but the fact that it is a knob suggests that it is a volume control. Lacks index markings for volume levels, does not have audible, visual, or tactile indication when max volume is reached. Knob is also used for power on/off, bass and treble adjustment, and other functions. Source selection: The line input has priority over Bluetooth when plugged in with slight or no delay.
