Sound quality: Ikea's Solskydd had mediocre overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. The bass has good impact and goes fairly deep but is a touch prominent and boomy. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat congested, hazy and grainy and a touch plasticky and sibilant. Treble is fairly extended but is a bit subdued and sizzly and somewhat smeared. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience but is somewhat congested. The monophonic sound field extends not much above or to the sides of the speaker enclosure. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable but have a two dimensional quality. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement.
Ease of use: We found the Solskydd ease of use to be very good overall.
