Sound quality: JBL's Charge 6 had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is a bit prominent and boomy. Midrange is even, but is somewhat hazy, a bit congested and grainy and a touch sibilant. Treble is extended, but is a bit sizzly and a touch smeared. So-so recovery of room ambience, and sounds a bit congested. The two channel sound field extends somewhat above ad a bit beyond the sides of the speaker enclosure. Depth is flat. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable and have a two dimensional quality. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement.
Volume:
Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room.
